On April 24th, we join the global movement Fashion Revolution Day, a date chosen in remembrance of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh in 2013, which claimed the lives of over 1,100 garment workers. This tragedy marked a turning point in the fashion industry, sparking a global movement towards greater transparency, ethics and sustainability. To honor this important day, we’ve created this post to explore the circular and ethical fashion trends defining 2025, and how brands like ours are actively contributing to a more responsible and conscious future in fashion.
In 2025, the fashion industry is no longer just experimenting with sustainability, it is actively transforming around it. Sustainability is no longer a differentiator; it is a responsibility. Consumers are increasingly demanding transparency, durability, and environmental consciousness in their fashion choices, and brands that align with these values are gaining recognition.
At Canussa, these values are not just trends, we are founded on these principles and they are at the core of who we are. We are part of this global ethical shift, but also rooted in a very local story.
Over the past two decades, what began as a niche conversation in Spanish fashion has evolved into a creative and responsible movement that continues to grow. Although Spain has made notable progress in sustainable fashion, yet it does not rank among the top global leaders in this domain. Countries such as Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands are at the forefront, implementing innovative sustainability practices and policies that set high industry standards. Nonetheless, Spain’s commitment to ethical production and local craftsmanship is evident in brands like ours, which contribute to the broader movement towards responsible fashion.
From timeless, multifunctional designs to responsible materials and local production, Canussa is proud to be part of the movement that is redefining the future of fashion. Here are the key trends we are seeing this year and how Canussa is already actively participating in the broader push for ethical and circular fashion.
1) Embracing circular fashion
Circular fashion focuses on designing products for longevity, reuse, and recyclability. It aims to maximize products’ useful life. Canussa aligns with this approach by creating durable, timeless accessories that are built to last.
Our commitment to quality ensures that our products can be used and cherished for years, reducing the need for frequent replacements and in doing so, encouraging a more responsible way of consuming.
2) Utilizing innovative and vegan fabrics
Canussa incorporates innovative materials such as high resistant vegan alternatives to leather made from waste and recycled post-consumer polyester into our products.
We also use natural materials derived from palm, corn and persimmon harvests waste, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and circular design.
This choice reflects our dedication to reducing environmental impact while maintaining high-quality standards.
3) Prioritizing ethical production and transparency
Ethical production practices are increasingly important to consumers. Canussa ensures fair labor conditions by manufacturing our products locally in the Valencian Community (Spain). By producing locally, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also, we support Spanish craftsmanship and ensure traceability throughout the supply chain.
This localized production model also enhances transparency, an essential value for today’s conscious consumers. At Canussa, we openly share how and where our products are made, offering clear information so customers can make empowered and thoughtful purchases.
4) Encouraging minimalism and versatility
Minimalist design and versatile products are gaining popularity as consumers seek to simplify their wardrobes.
Canussa designs timeless and functional accessories for all occasions (for work, going to school, a walk, dinner with friends, etc), without the need to purchase multiple products. This way, our brand is promoting a minimalist lifestyle and it reduces the need for purchasing multiple items.
In the end, sustainable fashion is more than a passing trend, it is a necessary evolution in the industry. Spain continues to build its own path through the efforts of brands such as ours. By aligning with these trends, Canussa demonstrates our commitment to circular and ethical fashion. Our practices reflect a broader movement towards responsibility and transparency in the industry. This movement is not just shaping wardrobes, but shaping a better future for the planet and the people on it.
