How CANUSSA LAB uses artificial intelligence to design, personalise and manufacture products more efficiently, reducing waste and supporting a more circular fashion industry.
When we think about circular fashion, we often focus on innovative materials or eco-design. However, a significant part of a product's environmental impact is determined much earlier—during the design, personalisation and production planning stages. Every unnecessary revision, production error or manual process consumes time, materials and resources before a product is even manufactured.
At CANUSSA LAB, digital technologies have been part of our design, customisation and production management processes for years. Many of these tools have recently evolved to incorporate artificial intelligence capabilities, enabling greater automation, improved decision-making and increased efficiency throughout our workflow.
This work is part of an innovation project selected under the Spanish Ministry of Culture's funding programme for Cultural and Creative Industries, which supports initiatives that strengthen innovation and digital transformation within the cultural and creative sectors. Through this project, we are exploring how AI can help optimise product development, personalisation and production management while contributing to a more efficient and circular manufacturing model.
Rather than replacing creativity, AI helps us optimise the way we design, personalise and manufacture products while reducing waste and making better use of resources.
AI-powered personalisation
Personalisation is increasingly important, but it often involves time-consuming manual work before production can begin.
To simplify this process, we have developed a new digital personalisation system for our laptop sleeves, allowing customers to configure their product directly on our website.
Behind this experience, AI-powered tools help automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual preparation and improve communication between design and production. This allows us to deliver personalised products more efficiently while minimising errors and reducing pre-production time.

AI supporting product design
Artificial intelligence is also becoming part of our product development process.
Using 3D modelling, digital visualisation and AI-assisted workflows, we can explore new concepts, refine designs and validate ideas before creating physical prototypes.
Working digitally allows us to iterate faster, reduce unnecessary prototypes and optimise the development process without compromising creativity or quality.

Technology for a more circular future
Circularity is not only about the materials we use—it is also about how we design our processes.
By integrating AI into design and personalisation, we improve accuracy before manufacturing begins, helping us produce closer to real demand, reduce waste and use resources more efficiently.
At CANUSSA LAB, we combine AI-powered digital tools with local manufacturing in Spain, working alongside specialised workshops where technology supports craftsmanship rather than replacing it.
For us, artificial intelligence is not simply about automation. It is about designing better products through smarter processes and taking another step towards a more efficient and circular fashion industry.
